Lemon Volcanos

During Science Week we used lemons to make mini volcanos. 

We added a little food colouring and baking powder to make them erupt. 

Lemon juice contains citric acid. 

When you add baking powder to the citric acid 

it reacts to form carbon dioxide and sodium citrate. 

This causes it to fizz and bubble.
